Are you looking to step outside of your normal culinary box? Tired of the same boring dinner date? Well let @Exclusive_Eats add a splash of romance and creativity to your night by introducing you to Meehan's Public House and their "Music Themed Dinners"! Each month Meehan's Public House is hosting a 5-course meal with beer and wine pairings designed to complement music from the month's featured artist. @Exclusive_Eats was invited to attend last month's Johnny Cash 5 course dinner prepared by the talented Chef Val Domingo. Tickets for the event are priced at $47 each which isn't too bad if you think about it (roughly $9 per course in addition to the wine and beer served with each entree.) For those who didn't grow up in the Johnny Cash era, the famous "Man in Black" created an entire album dedicated to Ireland called "40 Shades of Green." Thus, a themed dinner party for this musical superstar works  perfectly with the Irish cuisine served at this trendy pub. When you enter Meehan’s you are immediately reminded of an traditional english pub. The lights are dimmed but good conversation and the “clinking of glasses” illuminates the place. A pub is nothing without a great bar, and Meehan’s is no exception. Their bar has an extensive selection and the drinks are well priced. I'm a sucker for a good dinner party so I was really excited to participate in this event! To start our evening we were served a 1st course that was titled 40 Shades of Green and was a "cucumber and melon soup with mascerated blueberries" paired with a glass of Joel Gott Pinot Gris. This soup was refreshing and tasty. (I thought it was so creative that Meehan's named each course after a Johnny Cash song) The second course was called "Green, Green Grass of Home" which was chargrilled romaine hearts with roasted tomatoes, asiago herb crisp and caesar dressing paired along side a Somer Orange Honey Ale. This dish was a very interesting take on a salad, but the char taste on the romaine went perfectly with the roasted tomatoes. The 3rd course "One Piece At A Time" was a serving of green lip mussels in coconut lime broth paired with a glass of Chateau St. Michelle Sauvignon Bllanc. This was my first time experiencing mussels in a coconut broth so I was a bit nervous, but I have to admit I really enjoyed it! For our 4th and main entree called "You Wild Colorado" we sampled Guiness Braised Short Rib, Tempura fried asparagus and chimichurri puree. This dish was scrumptious and paired along side a hazelnut brown nectar rogue beer. The ribs were tender and were paired perfectly with the crunchy tempura asparagus. For our final course we were presented with the "Ring of Fire" which was a molten lava cake, fresh fruit, mint oil, and tahitian vanilla ice cream. Super tasty! This scrumptious dessert was paired with a chocolate stout rogue beer. By the end of this event not only was I full, but I was also slightly inebriated! The various courses and eclectic variety of beer and wines makes this experience very fun and perfect for couples who love discussing food. Aside from the themed dinners, Meehan’s also has a good tapas menu, sandwiches, traditional pub food like Sheppard’s Pie, Fish & ChipsMeehan’s even serves brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00am- 3:00pm. If you’re looking for a nice pub atmosphere and a talented Chef who is willing to spice things up a bit, I would definitely recommend Meehan’s Public House.
