Ok seriously folks Highland Bakery wins "Exclusive Eats - Best Brunch Award!' I absolutely positively LOVED my experience here :-) Nestled into Old Fourth Ward, Highland Bakery is a true gem in the midtown community and everyone needs to check it out at least once in their life. Last Sunday while Atlanta was being sprinkled with snow my guest and I ventured to Highland Bakery for brunch after church service. We all know that Sunday afternoons provide for long waits at restaurants but I didn't mind the 30 min interval at Highland Bakery because their lobby dubs as a coffee bar/bakery with every espresso you could imagine and tons of delectable treats. So as your waiting for your table you and your guest can pass the time enjoying a warm drink and pastry. Once my party of 2 was called we were seated at a cute table in the bustling dining room and our server was prompt and polite (customer service is so important now a days!) Now when I was preparing to order a server walked by with the best looking plate of Shrimp & Grits $12.95 I had ever seen! It was described on the menu as : home ground grits with sautéed seasoned gulf shrimp and a creamy pepper gravy, served with grilled jalapeno

focaccia and chopped cilantro . This sounded absolutely heavenly but my tastebuds were calling for something a little more practical so I ordered the Highland Breakfast (two eggs scrambled with your choice of bacon, ham, turkey sausage, or soysage (yes soysage for all my health nuts out there) and your choice of potatoes or grits and toast/biscuit) all for a lovely $6.95 **sounds like a steal for all my penny pinchers out there** My guest ordered French Toast $7.95 (Super thick slices of challah bread, topped with seasonal fresh fruit & a sprinkle of powdered sugar, with maple syrup on the side). His meal looked and tasted delicious. I would highly suggest both items. Highland Bakery should be your next stop if your looking for a cute and classy place to have an inexpensive brunch or breakfast on the weekends. Its great for large groups or small intimate dates. I'll be spreading the word on this place for a while, take my word for it and stop by :-)
