Finally!! I found a trendy BBQ restaurant that isn't your typical joint!! Have you been looking for a quality BBQ place that doesn't have peanut shells on the floor or crappy service?? Well look no further because DBA Barbecue is here!! Located in VA Highlands, DBA BBQ offers you the sports bar environment with delicious southern BBQ. My aunt and I stopped by DBA after seeing it showcased on Scoutmob (a mobile application that gives you FREE coupons for 50% off at your favorite local restaurants). We were waiting for our car to be serviced down the road at Cactus Carwash and were in need of a cute, fast, and TASTY lunch spot. Being the restaurant guru that I claim to be I had to recommend a spot that wouldn't cause my aunt to doubt my capabilities. I had never been to DBA but I had heard good things about it, it was close by, and hell it was 50% off - so we tried it! Arriving right around 1pm my aunt and I were seated JUST before the influx of lunch time patrons. This place can get busy - quickly!! We were impressed by the clean and lively atmosphere of the restaurant. There were lots of places to sit throughout the establishment including tables, booths, bar seating and even a patio for summer dining! My aunt and I started our meals off with a basket of the popular Warm White Cheese and Corn Muffins with Honey Butter ($3.95). These were scrumptious! I highly suggest them, but keep in mind one serving includes 4 muffins. While we were deciding what to order for our main dish I saw a server pass by with a tray of shots that I just had to try. My server told me if I checked in with the mobile application four square I could recieve a free shot! So of course I did and throughouly enjoed my Free "Whip It" shot which was a mix of Pinnacle Whip Cream Vodka and Whynatte espresso mix. It tasted just like chocolate milk! Next we ordered our entrees, my aunt "claimed" to be ordering a meal that she would take home and "share" with her husband - little did she know the Full Rack of Spare Ribs with a side of Sauteed Garlic Green Beans ($3) and Sweet Potato Tots ($3) was so tasty that she ate nearly the whole plate!! I called myself trying to be adventurous and ordered the Archie Bunker Sandwich ($10.95) which was smoked pulled pork on Texas toast topped with mac and cheese, sweet BBQ sauce, Jack and Cheddar cheese. It was good but I would have preferred just the pulled pork sandwich with a side of macaroni and cheese. I also ordered a side of Smoked Baked Beans ($3). The baked beans were TO DIE FOR!!! This was my favorite side dish!! The managers of the restaurant were so nice to us and suggested we try both the Blackberry Cobbler served with Sweetened Whip Cream ($4.95) and Banana Pudding ($4.95). I really liked the cobbler and would recommend that to anyone with a sweet tooth. Next time your planning a lunch date with your friends or looking for some good southern BBQ check out D.B.A Barbecue you will truly enjoy it!
